Solar And Wind Power For Home - Ideas For The Beginner

by Macky Braun

Two things have become apparent of late. First, the planet is in serious trouble. Secondly, the places and way we get our energy are dangerous and becoming harder to find. These have led millions to switch to solar and wind power for home utilities. This lets these families keep their energy and the planet safe. Here’s what beginners need to know.

The biggest power plant around is 92 million miles away: our sun. Plants, animals, humans, even bacteria get their energy from the sun. Solar power just brings this common sense to running your home. I got into solar because I wanted the cleanest source of energy, and without fossil fuels solar best serves our air, water and climate.

In addition to being the greenest power, solar is the most secure power, empowering you to take control of your family’s energy. An attack or breakdown on some faraway plant won’t cause you much trouble when you have solar panels. When everyone around has lost power, you’ll still be humming along-a precious bit of security.

I assumed at first that solar panels would be expensive, but like many innovations in solar and wind power for home, things are improving. Tax incentives abound for the technology, and it increases your home’s resale value: it’s a great investment. Also, with the newest generation of do-it-yourself panels, I was able to get solar power on the cheap.

Probably the best supplement for your solar array is a windmill. When it is dark at night or stormy weather, your solar power might not work, but the wind is blowing hard. When you put together the two sources-ancient wind technology and the latest solar technology-you have the cleanest and safest home electricity possible.

Wind power is great even alone. Its installation is simpler, and entry costs are lower than solar power. It is just as green, just as renewable and easily as safe as solar power, empowering you to do right by your kids and your planet. Both or either, solar and wind power for home electricity work wonders.

There are a few caveats. Some critics point to the mining and production processes behind solar panels as an environmental shortcoming of the technology. And conservationists have gotten onto me for windmills’ threat to flying birds. Compared to where my electricity comes from before, however, these are much cleaner and safer sources of energy.

With solar panels or windmills you ensure a safer, cleaner planet for your posterity. Every year brings lower prices for solar power, and the latest generation is designed to be installed by anybody. Windmills too can add to your solar array, or serve by themselves. Whichever you choose, our future depends on green technologies like these.

Herbal compost activators are completely natural and work efficiently and quickly.

The ingredient mix in herbal compost activators creates a compost pile that has a sweet scent to it. While you could certainly allow your compost pile to decompose on its own without adding in a compost activator, you run the risk of attracting odors and flies as well as other pests to your compost pile. A compost activator works by providing the nitrogen that a compost pile typically lacks naturally on its own. Nutrients, including potassium, may also be added to these compost activators.
